OUCH! I know a lot of people on here have use JB weld with great success if the pieces are big enough to hold. we have a tube for emergency. I know if we ever are going to need it it will be when all the stores are closed and we have to cook for something special! LOL for once I am prepared and maybe it will be my lucky charm and nothing will happen. good luck and let us know how it works out. Julie
P.S. HOW did it fall out of it's nest????
:( -
Julie is right on the money! JB Weld is our savior.
-
LIke Julie, I am very curious. How did it fall of the nest? COuld be worse, the dome or base could be damaged. I say buy the new components and be done with it.
-
I have never used the JB weld stuff but, unless your strapped for money, i would buy replacement parts.
-
the platesetter has been fixed with JBWeld before. as for the guts (fire ring and/or firebox), don't bother. My fire ring finally cracked (five years or so of use), and my (second) firebox cracked maybe a year ago. just stack them puzzle-like, and they'll stay put.
depending on your level of honesty/integrity, you could approach your dealer and tell him the fire ring cracked under normal use, because it is a warranty item. but you might get dinged a few cosmic karma points in your next life for the white lie.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -

I successfully repaired my broken fire ring with:
2300°F Resbond™ 907GF Adhesive & Sealant
This moist, creamy putty is easily applied from standard caulking cartridges for use from -300°F to 2300°F.
Just apply to steel, stainless, iron, most metals, ceramics, ceramic cloth, tapes, gaskets, tadpole gaskets, etc.
Use for bonding, sealing and repairing exhaust systems, fire brick, gas turbines, brazing fixtures, equipment, stacks, etc. Ideal for use in any high temperature Assembly, Production, Repair or Maintenance Application.
I have NO affiliation with Cotronics (the manufacturer)

For heavens sake why buy new when the JB Weld will work?
It's sort of like getting your fist hair on your nether spots! A sign of adulthood. Becoming a man. you know. -
I was pushing the egg off the patio and it caught some leaves/dirt build up and the wheels dug in. When the wheels dug in the egg toppled over and fell out the nest. I believe the indirect plate is $30-$40 and the fire ring is about the same cost. I will try the JB weld or resbond to see if it works. I was furious about this all day and though that I really had to go out and purchase new parts. Hopefully this will work. thanks for all of your responses and help. This forum is a huge help!!!

LOL We all hope to never be there but it will be fine. Hard lesson, pull not push. Now you know why. Try the JB Weld and I bet it will work for along time. have your favorite cold beverage and relax. You have not done anything that many on here have. and some had no repair options, dust does not glue well, so count yourself lucky. Julie

i went to lowes and only found the JB weld. Where do you buy the Resbond. (is that the name of the stuff?)
Thanks for your help.
