Search, memory and freezing

When I search the forums, the browser ends up consuming an ever increasing amount of memory then freezes the browser after a while - I need to kill the browser instance using TaskMan. Is this the normal result of searching or is there a way to move more of the processing on the server and away from the client? My PC is a Pentium IV running WinXP SP4 with 0.5 Gb of memory - not the most powerful machine, but one wouldn't think I'd need an Intel Core2Quad with 4 Gb of memory to search a web-based forum. Thanks.

    It's not your machine. We didn't like how search worked either (taking way to long and returning too many results for some searches). WMK worked over the weekend on implementing a new search algorithm. Preliminary testing indicates a VAST improvement in search speed and relevence of results. It just needs a little more work. We should be done soon.

    I think you'll be happy with WMK's results.

    Thanks for the update. Searching the cookbook section is fine. It's just searching the forums and from the home page that causes the memory and CPU problems with browser freezing.
