So here is what I did with the Tuna. Marinaded in soy sauce, lemon juice, crushed garlic, EVOO, S&P. For about 20 minutes. It was absolutly wonderful :woohoo:

On the egg after about 1.5 minutes

Fresh off the egg :silly:

On the plate atop Jasmine rice, and some of the wifes cucumber salad

I must say some of the best tuna I have had.

I like fish, and tuna for sushi, but just have never developed that taste for cooked tuna, even rare... The cooked part always seems so dry to me... You're pictures look great.... maybe I'll have to try again

The key is to get a hot hot sear, so the majority of the inside is still very rare.

Got some in the freezer. Can see it on the Egg this week before graveyards!

Looks ideal, Jeff, just enough red and perfect grill marks. Kudos.

Very nice. Recipe for the salad? Great looking dinner.

You live in one of the best places to get real fresh tuna, the best I ever had was a bluefin I caught on a boat out of Point Loma. -RP

That looks wonderful! May I ask what the sauce is for the cucumber salad?

While I love my eggs, the only reason I own a weber chimney starter is because of tuna steaks. Darn that Alton Brown for the inspiration to sear tuna over a blast furnace with a cheap cook grate
All in all, it's an expensive cook for seared tuna, but gosh darn it well worth it
have a great weekend -
The cucumber salad is very easy S&P and sour cream. Sounds kind of wierd I know, but my grandmaother always made it for us and it is wonder for a light side on a hot day.
