I installed a new Nomex gasket this afternoon on my Large. Could'nt help but think I stretched it somewhat as I made the "turn" around the dome and base. Hope its OK. Anyone have experience with this? Also got a Cast Iron cooking grill. Looks awsome. Thanks

Do a search for Nomex and you find tons of information on this subject. I'll pm you with my phone if you want all the specific gory details of my experience. Mark

No NOMEX on my EGG yet, but I do have a cast iron grate for both my large and my small.

I love using it with steaks and chicken breasts.

    Awesome.

i have put a couple on two on mine and two for two diffrent friends.. i stretched 2 of them.. what happened was it pulled a little bit away

i then pulled it back further away, scraped it with putty scraper. then i sprayed 3m's super 77 on it and pushed it back down.. waited 24 hours, fired it up and they have been both fine ever since ;)

Hi Ross. The glue on the double sided adhesive tape on my gasket melted at something over 500 degrees. You have to actually melt off the adhesive tape, then use Super 77 all by itself to re-adhere the gasket to the Egg. My nomex is holding up very, very well now and is glued on with only the 3M Super 77 spray. Previous discussions of this subject resulted in a consesus that BGE should sell the gasket without the double sided adhesive tape and instruct folks to just glue it to their Eggs with the Super 77 or some other high temp adhesive. Thanks for the discussion this afternoon. We're leaving for the beach in a couple of days, so I may let the new gasket cure for 10 days or so before use. I'll report back after using in a couple of weeks. Here's hoping!!

i have had no troubles and the part that failed was the doublesided tape ;)

I agree totally. I used the 77 on the adhesive and it still let loose from the tape. Burned it all off and now just 77. No more problem.
