I'm gonna smoke for the first time on the Egg and I need to know if I should soak some wood chips in water like you do with LP BBQ

No,just throw the chips in dry

No water needed.

Since your egg controlls airflow so well, the chips or chunks cannot get enough air to ignite into flames. They will just smolder which is what you want. If you soak them all you are really doing is adding steam and your egg is already the most efficient at retaining moisture in food so it does not need extra moisture either.

Hey madmike,I used to soak my chips because that's what the book said to do.I started using dry chips/chucks after finding this forum.I think that I wasted alot of water for no good reason
Good luck on your first smoke

Personally, I prefer chunks over chips.
