First cook w/spider rig - sorry no pix

Got the spider delivered, that thing is built like a tank....thanks. Did some salmon filets using the spider and the top of my 5qt dutch oven, which sits perfectly in the spider....about 1" over the coals. Coated each filet with evoo, then covered each with some homemade Paul Purdhomme blackening spice. When the egg got to 400 dome, I checked the DO lid with an infared thermometer, and it was 880 :woohoo: :woohoo: 90 seconds on each side and we were eating the best blackened fish ever

Great idea, the creativity in this forum incredible. My wife and I love salmon and cooking fish in general. Thanks for the idea, we will get a spider this weekend. Will try this method.
