To Season Or Not

Kids gave me a new cast iron grill for fathers day should I season this or not...........

    by all means.

    just don't expect the seasoning to 'keep' on the bottom side when you use it on the egg. with a good seasoning job in the interior, and if you make sure you wash and dry it after each use, you'll have no rust.

    i dont season mine, it all just burns off during the sear anyways. does it rust, yep, does it bother me, nope.

    i did not season mine it went from the box into the egg with the exception of a coating of PAM grill spray. As far as washing and drying after each use,, surely you jest............. :ohmy:

    When I brought the CI grate for our SBGE home I washed it with soap and hot water to get rid of any nasties from manufacturing or storage, put it in the Egg and cooked four Bubba Burgers. All I've done since then is brush off the big chunks of crud and cook on it.
