I would like to make bread on my BGE. I would like a recipe and directions from someone who has done it before.

  • YB,[p]Yes, I did - thanks. I was looking for a more traditional white bread.

    Julie:[p]For kicks you may want to visit King Arthur Flour. Seems like I got a gtreat basic white bread recipe from them included as a handout with a purchase. It could be something listed on their site or they can e-mail to you. By the way, King Arthur has the best flour I have found for making breads or pizza.

    Julie, my recipe is used for a regular oven & makes about a 3lb size (free form)[p]3 cups room temp water;
    1 pack yeast;
    4 teasp salt;
    2 Tabsp vegetable oil or melted butter(but not hot)
    5 cups approx. Bread flour (quantity depends on humidity) to make a non-sticky, but soft dough.
    in electric oven 450°F 15min, then 400°F another 15min -till golden brown & sounds hollow when tapped on top.

  • Julie, Try www.allrecipies.com and type in Amish White Bread in the search box. Very easy to make and quite good bread. A very good site which I have used often myself. Good luck!
