First slow cook with Guru in progress...

I went by the Mothership on Tuesday and bought the guru to assist me on the low and slow cooks. I have done several low and slows since I got my Egg in October but always had to rely on the wireless transmitter to alert me if the temps went out of wack. Several times on previous cooks I had to get up to adjust the wheel.
Last night I put 2 butts on the cooker @ 9PM- 17lbs. I sent the pit temp to 250 and let it go. After a very restfull night I awake this AM with the pit still firing away at 250 and the food temp @ 164! Thank goodness for the Guru as I didn't have to worry about a thing. I expect to get home from the office later today with everything ready to pull off the smoker.
Don't worry Doug, porn is on the way! :P
My buds coming over for cards tonight have NO idea what is waiting for them.

Hey Ted, I have been a proponent of using the manual method for low/slow as opposed to a guru, but I have to admit it would be nice to do an overnighter with no worries. Let us know how it turns out.
Will we see you tommorow?

Couldn't agree with you more. Now I have a Guru and a pit minder but I had already learned to do it without first. I still at times will do it the manual way just so I know I can.
But having said that, the Guru is great.
Cheers,
