ANyone tried planked salmon? I have some "Oregon Cedar Grill" planks and they suggest soak for 15 mins and cook for 12 - 15 mins. I have a mind to saok it longer and cook it lower and slower... Any ideas or experience-based tips would be appreciated.
Thanks...MW

    MW,
I do planked salmon fairly often. I soak for 15 minutes or so and then place a skin on filet on the plank. Season with whatever, I like cajun.
Cook over say a 400-450 dome takes anywhere from 12-20 minutes.
Two things first off cedar fence boards from the home store will give you three planks for about $3. (Yes they are untreated)
And secondly when you remove the board, the bottom will be chared, and may have some embers on it. Don't place on anything subject to heat damage.
Never tried to plank lo and slo.
