I picked up a new large egg today, along with the "wheeled" compact cart. Right now I've got too many other things going on, to diy my own table.
First thing I noticed, none of the wheels have locks...that stinks. Any suggestions? Guess I could pull one off, and take to my local Graingers to get a pair of locking versions...
Also the table, although it looks very nice, from what I can tell, has no finish.
So what should I do, rub it down with some furniture oil, like "Feed and Wax"?
For now the egg/cart will be stored in the garage, out of the elements, until I get my patio laid. Then it will stay outdoors, and I'll get a cover.
BTW, took 100 clams with me to spend just for accessories, came home with more than I hoped!

Any exterior stain should work just fine. The more effort you put into sanding it before staining will yield very good results as far as smoothness of finish.
The nests dont have locking casters either.....would be nice. -
LOL! Lucky patio, not lucky me. 800 sq ft of interlock pavers, over bedding sand and crush and run, and first, all that diggin, in the month of June. Thank God it's going to cool down a little in the next week.
Here's the stuff I was referring to:

Not a varnish, just an oil (bees wax and orange oil). Rub it on, then buff it off. Not as tough as vanish, but something that can be applied more than once. I just not sure how it will perform in a high heat situation.
Then again heres what I used on my wood fence (with excellant results):

Maybe that would be better.
Update: found the table finishing info in the BGE customer service FAQ section...the Flood stain would be the prefered coating.
Thanks Ron. -
Buy a couple rubber door stops from any local hardware store. One on each side of any wheel will keep the table stationary.
-- OR --
If you REALLY want to make sure it doesn't move, drill a 1/4 inch hole through a wheel and it's support and insert a bolt. -
I had the compact table, which I've recently traded for the long table. I stained it and put two coats of Minwax Spar Urethane on it:
That's a 61x61 cm square of granite to the left of the Egg, and I put a second paving stone underneath for letting a hot plate setter cool.
