Each launch is beautiful, with one exception.. Several years ago I was driving north on A1A at he beach side of brevard county and about 2-3pm the shuttle was returning home on the back of the transporter from California. Fantasic sight.Awsome After 30 years here in the space coast I am still in awe of them.
-
That must be a sight for a lifetime
-
In 30 years it was only a once in a lifetime event for me.

I'm a retired engineer on the S.S. program and had the great pleasure of being in the V.I.P. area on the first shuttle launch (the Columbia)........It was mind boggling to see that incredible ship launch.... It just didn't seem possible that it could take off! But, it did, and all of us were screaming and shouting with tears streaming down our faces!! Maybe the greatest experience in my lifetime.......

My brother works on the Delta pad here at the Cape. Pre 9/11 the vip tours were great. You could actually stand and touch the rocket 3 days before liftoff. Watched the 2'nd shuttle launch from 3 miles and the sound gave me goose bumps. Never gets boring to pull off the road and watch history going up.
