Mini and tailgating?

Unknown
edited November -1 in EggHead Forum
I just ordered a Mini for tailgating. Can anyone tell me if they use a mini for tailgating and what they cook on it. I usually do pork tenderloins for sandwiches before the game. [p]Go Huskers

    Omaha Mark,
Lately my Mini has been by egg of choice over the small BGE. It is simply fabulous at searing pork chops and filets. Small chicken breasts also work nice. I have even smoked a rack of ribs in my mini.
A ring of Italian Sausage is a tasty treat at tail gaiting. For that matter, some simple burgers and hot dogs also fit the bill.[p]I will throw one in since NatureBoy is on vacation, Squid.[p]Hope this helps,

    Omaha Mark,
I haven't used my mini yet for tailgating but, how many Chiefs games do you go to and we should meet up and do some serious cooking.

    YB,
Could you fit 4 Rib-eys in a mini?
How did you install a second grid in there?[p]dublin

  • Car Wash Mike,[p]Two years ago (my wife was pregnant) I made six of them. Last year I only made 4. So I am shooting for at least 4 this year. I am hoping to go to the home opener on the 15th. Sometimes my wife goes, sometimes it is with the fellas. Would love to meet and do some BBQ and beers. [p]Omaha Mark

  • YB, I, too have a new mini and am interested in how you use two grids? That is ,how is the upper one held; it's not evident in the pix.

    <p />Tim H. and dublin ,
I had a stainless steel ring made 1 1/2"x9" and bought a extra grid from our egg store. When we tailgate we cook tenderloin steaks cut 2 1/2 inches thick...We can get 4 or 5 on the mini.

    Omaha Mark,
I like to do spits of 6 or so shrimp on mine. They cook fast and are great for crowds of snackers. For those of us stuck inland, Sam's club frozen shrimp thawed in cool water and dressed with garlic and butter are great. I wish I still lived in Galveston....
