Grilling with a basket

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I want to grill some asparagus wrapped with serrano ham and I think it will be WAY easier if I have a basket that closes over the asparagus. All the baskets that I have seen for this kind of operation have a handle that is not conducive to use in the BGE. Besides buying one and cutting off the handle, is there anyone out there that has found a solution for this?

Thanks.

It depends on what I am cooking with it but here are my solutions:

    a. I have a pan with a detachable handle that I use on my small BGE

    b. if the above mention pan will not fit because I don't have enough space I will use aluminum foil to put the vegy (asparagus in this case) in

    or

    c. I put the vegy directly on the grid (hopefully a raised grid) where I just cook them directly...

the good thing is with some creativity there are all sort of options with the BGE :P

i got one with a removable handle at wegmans but cannot find it on line i will be at wegmans tomorrow and check the brand . jl got a stainless with a folding handle and hd or lowes?
    most grocery stores carry disposable
    "oscarware disposable grill topper"
if you have a cast iron grid put the regular grid on top of the cast iron rotate so grids are perpendicular then stuff won't fall thru. i prefer to do my wrapped asparagus this way so i can turn and move according to doneness . shaking wrapped asparagus ruins the work of wrapping it. i use the basket for shrimp and chopped veggies.

I got this one at a local fireplace/BBQ store, I'm pretty sure it's a Weber. It's made to put on a rotisserie and has an adjustable/removable grid to allow for the placement of the food. I've only used it for meatloaf so far, but it would be perfect for asparagus.

I got this for my anniversary from my wife. She bought it at our egg dealer, Southern Patio,770-474-9399. It has a removable handle. It'll work just fine for you! HTH.

I've got this one too - it was part of a rotisserie kit.

I've used mine for wrapped & stuffed pork loin, fish, meatloaf, veggies - if you can trap it between the locking pieces, you can flip as often as you like.
