Egg Table Idea

I'm still mentally building my egg table. I like the fact that my egg is portable in it's nest. My egg table will be too big to make portable with wheels, having plumbing and electricity and all.
I am thinking of making the table around the egg with a door on a hinge that can swing open so each agg, large and small, could be wheeled out in it's nest. They would always be in their nest and just 'parked' in the table. Using a 'seamless' door to allow them in and out.
I'm sure someone can find a flaw in this, rather now than after I build it.
Any advice would be appreciated...
thanks

    Wardster,
I love your idea. You won't have to worry about burning the table/shelf because you will be using the nest, very nice, i think I will copy that design also...

    Wardster,
Now that's creative thinking. I like creative thinkers. Since you already have a plan in mind and are only seeking potential problems with the design, I will throw my two cents in.[p]My first thought is that you must have a purpose in wanting to move your Egg or Eggs some distance from your cooking center. Otherwise, it will only become a storage center for all of your cooking devices and supplies. That means you will have to travel between where you take your Egg and your source of supplies, tools, and work space. That may become a major inconvenience.[p]The other thing that came to mind is the potential damage to the Egg when moving it about so much. The way I see it, the more you roll your Egg around in the Nest, the more likely it will fall over.[p]The next thing is the tremendous gap you will have in the top of your cooking center to accommodate the Egg. That could be sealed off in a variety of ways but it will add expense to the project. The most logical way would be to let the counter top serve to cover the collection of Eggs, and then put the doors on the front to protect them from the weather or from being seen when not in use.[p]Finally, it occurred to me that you might just want to make a small cart for each Egg to park along side or each end of your cooking center. Each cart could then easily be moved to wherever you wanted it. Then, after you are finished, you could roll them back in place. This way you can have some storage area and counter top right there with the Egg.[p]Just my thoughts. If I think of anything else I will let you know. [p]Spring Chicken

    Spring Chicken,
I live in FL and most houses come with huge screened in porches. I do not wish to have the cooking center exposed to the intense sun and rain all year. That means I wish to place it under the roof. There are times when a tremendous amount of smoke would make this a bad idea. I could, very carefully, wheel it out into the open area.
The door, in my head, would close around the egg, thus completing the circle that encloses the egg, if looking at it from the top.
Large on one side, small on the other. Removable cutting board somewhere in the middle. Maybe a sing and some outlets.
It's not how you cook, it's how you look when you cook...
well, with the egg the above in not true anymore...

    Wardster,
We lived in Miami, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville so we know what you are talking about. You must live in the southern half of the state. And you are right about the sun. It can get very hot there. However, you could use some of your creative juices to make a nice little palmetta roof over your cooking center and make it look like something from Better Homes & Gardens.[p]Just a thought.[p]Spring Chicken

Wardster, if you have it under a covered area, try installing a ceiling fan above it. It tends to disperse the smoke and with a vent above will actually drive it out the vent. And the best part is that ceiling fans have gotten so cheap, you never have to clean it, just replace it every other year or so.
