Your XL and the food look great. The location looks even better!

Your rolling now...
Is that custom flip ring for the XL the best...
I cooked 4 tri tips this weekend with high heat and then added the flip ring to finish higher in the dome for the roast. It worked out great.

What a beautiful place to be cooking.
I'd put me a hammock out there and never leave........ -
I think the eggaccessories for the XL solve most of the design problems with the XL. Using the hanger, rods, flip ring and drip pan and stone makes it a really easy to use.

I agree 100%. Tom rocks with stainless...

Are these custom accessories? I just brought the XL home and have added the plate setter. I have not used my XL yet. Still researching.

I would return the place setter it really is not tall enough to give you much flexibilty and order the kit for the xl that includes hanger, rods, grate, flip ring and 18 inch pan.
Also you will need to order a 16 inch stone for the hanger.
Look at option 2 a it really works well for low and slow.
The kit really helps you be able to put separation between the stone and drip pan and grate.
It also makes it easy to put the grate at the gasket level and also for using a pizza stone it puts the stone up above the gasket level. You can stack two grates and cook up to 12 rack of ribs. -
You can cook three ribs flat on the grate with out a problem or six ribs on edge using a rib holder from Menards that was $4.95.

OK, I'm going to ask the OT question...what lake is that in the background?

Clear Lake, Ia

I like using the flip ring in the up position with the two crossbars to hold the indirect piece. simple set up and allows access to the lump. picture looks good. Any perch in the lake.....gotta love fresh lake perch. Twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc.

No perch but alot of walleyes. I also BBQ with the flip ring up alot. For a while I was just using a 18 inch pan on the hanger and no stone.
I think that I have found that with pizza it works better with the stone at gasket level and set up direct.
