<p />Here is a photo of my first butt, only seconds after the lid was lifted. It was sooo good. Almost 1/2 inch smoke ring in places. About a pound went to a neighbor, about 1/4 pound to the dog, about a pound to dinner and the rest is in the fridge now. Yummmm....[p]TNW

This might be a silly question, but what do you mean by 1/2 inch of smoke ring? Looks like you cooked up a fine meal.

If you took a knife and sliced off an inch or so of the butt, you would see that thr outermost meat was pink, almost like it was rare. That's the smoke ring.
