I was just browsing the old Kamado instruction manual from the 1970's which I found on TNW site. I found it interesting that it shows diagrams on how to open both top and bottom vents to obtain desired temp. It even has a diagraham with each recipe.
I have gotten pretty good at temp stabilization at lower temps, but haven't gone high heat enough times gain the amount of knowledge I would like to have.
Would anyone know if these's would apply to modern eggs?

air is air but airflow will vary those vent settings will proabably be close but it is always better to figure out how your egg seettings vary by opening and closing.. but give it a try i would love to know how close they are to an egg

You'll see that they adjust the flow with the angle of the rain cap. I always used stones to keep the right angle. I finally broke down and bought the adjustable cap.
