Hi Whiz,
I'm having a diner for 6 this weekend. I figure it will take 3 spacthcocked chickens to feed em. Can I get this many on a large without the quality going south?
Thanks,
B D

    Big Daddy,
I've not done 3 at one time, but I think you should be able to. Since I am using the firebricks to raise my grid, that limits the real estate a bit. I found that if I allow a part of the chicken to sit over one of the firebricks, that part of the chicken won't get done. If you used small chickens and carefully place the firebrick as far out and evenly spaced as possible, you should be able to get 3 arranged on the grill. What would be better, and I'm considering this, is making a raised grid with stainless steel bolts so that I don't have firebrick in the way.[p]TNW

  • Big Daddy,[p]They're going to have to be really small birds. I'm a fan of the larger birds (only two of us = more leftovers). I have the stainless steel bolts for my raised grid, and when I do two large birds it covers nearly the whole grid. I might be able to fit a baked potato, but there is no way I could fit a third on there.[p]Small birds should be fine though - and a half chicken regardless of size, should be enough to satisfy most guests.[p]All the more reason to try and get that second BGE......[p]Cheers![p]- Mike[p][p]
