ow does the Mini compare in performance?

Does the Mini get as hot as the Large, is the heat-controlling process the same as with the Large, and are there any notable differences in the way they perform?

Judy Mayberry, it's essentially the same but the fire is much closer to the grill and the grill is smaller. I get it up to 600-700 with no problem and it's great for a single steak. It'll do more but it really works super for a single.

Judy Mayberry,[p]We bought our Large just before Thanksgiving last year, and we've cooked just about everything on it, and cooked it well. But the wife and I wanted to have something to cook on while the Large was in the middle of a lo & slo, so we bought a Mini. We also bought an Egg Table from BGE at the same time, and BGE modified the table so that we could put both the Large and the Mini on the table. We've loved it ever since. The Mini is super for doing a couple of steaks, and dynamite for hot dogs and hamburgers. As a matter of fact, we now do all of our high-temp cooks on the Mini.[p]Get one. You will not regret it!

Works the same just the steak is a little closer to the charcoal. 700º - 800º no problem. Good investment.

Judy,[p]We will grill steaks, burgers, dogs, chicken breasts, brats, etc. on the mini. We will roast veggies, peanuts, pecans, etc. on it.[p]The only other note to make is that we control the temp by adjusting the opening of the lower vent exclusively. There is no need to try and control the temp with a daisy wheel (there isn't one made specifically for the mini anyhow).[p]
As much as the mini can be branded as a novelty, it is frankly very functional. Time to heat is the fastest of all the Eggs. Get one if you have any interest at all.[p]Puj
