The counter sez 48 guest and 23 members but I can only see 8 member names.

    Same here..now says 60 guests and 41 members but only shows 19 names

    No, it isn't broken, but it does have a small "hole" in it.

    There are two separate database queries run to fetch this information. The first one just counts how many sessions are "live" (less than an hour since they were updated). The second one fetches the list.

    Each time the site accessed, expired sessions are "swept" clean; and, if that occurs between the two queries above, then they could get significantly different results -- especially at a time of day when there are many sessions near their expiration time.

    I'll look into merging these two queries into just one.

    I've just updated the "Who's online" module to use only one query to fetch the members information (count and list of handles); so, the count will now always agree with the number of names show regardless of whether or not it changes during the time the page is generated.
