If I cook a butt for 16 hours re; 8lb. size, how much lump should I start with, and will I have to put more lump in if I cook at 250.

Hammer, The last long cook I did, I filled the lump up to the top where the place setter just set down. I added no lump and cooked right at 20 hours. Good lick,[p]CWM

Hammer,
You did not say what size egg you have, if it is a large, fill to the top of the fire ring & you will get 20hrs at 250 with not much problem. It you have a med, still fill to to top ring but keep an eye on it early in the morning just to be safe, you might have to add lump at this point.[p]Earl

Earl, that has exactly been my experience as well. With my large, no problem. With the medium, I sometimes run about 1 hour short.
