error: _LOG IN _INCOMPLETE

In an effort to see if I could get my "log in" to stick (I have to log in every time I visit), I double-checked my 'cookie' settings.

My firefox options are set to accept cookies, and to NOT delete personal data (cookies) upon exiting firefox. In short, I'm configured to accept cookies.

Now, whenever I try to come to the site, instead of the webpage opening, i get a pop-up error message saying "The Website greeneggers.com says: _LOG-IN _INCOMPLETE"
and I get bumped back to a refreshed page of whatever site I was at before trying to go to greeneggers.com.

If I then click the bookmark to come here again, it allows me in with no problem, the page loads and all seems fine. I can log in and click 'remember me', and it remembers me as long as I'm there, but if I close Firefox and come back, i get the same pop-Up.

any ideas?

also, on an unrelated front.... whenever i log in by replying to a post and clicking "use my handle" (that is, log in by replying rather than at the log in box), i get dumped in no man's land, and need to naviagte to 'home' then to 'forums', then to 'egghead forum' in order to get back to the forum. Any chance we can just get dumped back into the forum, ?

i never got that site to work for me, was locked out "unauthorized" to use any feature, and i had to use my password with every single post. the newer forum version works much better, but if you insist that you need to use the old one that will soon be deleted maybe someone can help you lol

    stike,

fishlessman is correct, you need to be using eggheadforum.com moving forward. We may ask that everyone visit greeneggers.net occasionally to test new features, but from now on, eggheadforum.com will be the home of the forum.

A good example of why (besides the issue you were experiencing earlier), is that I just had to copy a profile image from the .net account over to eggheadforum.com before I could approve it. This is because that, while the two accounts share the same database (i.e. forum messages, etc.), they are still separate accounts with different "home" directories and therefore a separate copy of each file (e.g. uploaded images, and, the forum software itself).

So when files, like avatars and profile images, are uploaded to greeneggers.net, they will *not* show up on eggheadforum.com. This setup is necessary so that we can make modifications to greeneggers.net, for testing purposes, w/out disrupting things on the forum.

Apologies for the confusion, but we use this arrangement to avoid major disruptions to the forum when making significant changes (e.g. the new template we are working to test and complete).

well. turns out that no matter what forum i use i get the same issue. i have cleared cookies numerous times, double-checked my security settings (cookies are accepted and retained) in an effort to get it to work. it just doesn't. running XP, firefox, etc. nothing new in my platform.

this place just does not work correctly for me anymore. i was able to get around the other quirks, and had faith it'd some day get fixed, but i don't see any progress as far as my own user-experience goes. no offence intended. you are doing the best you can with the time and funds you can.

it's just becoming too much of a pain to log in every single time, have to navigate multiple pages just to get to the forums, font sizes and preferences not sticking, etc.

way too much work to get in and around in an effort to help newbs and learn some stuff myself.
