Simply put - It transfers an uncooked pizza from a counter to the egg with no mess!! This is not the simplest tasks.
Other options are parchment paper or pizza pan or a pizza peel directly. Personally I like to put the pizza right on the pizza stone since the stone is porous and absorbs some of the moisture from the raw dough - To me this eliminates parchment paper or pans from the list - Althought I guess parchment paper may be somewhat porous.
