Wher do you set the daisy wheel when using a BBQ Guru?

I close the wheel but keep the stars fully to half way open. I hope you enjoy your Guru. I love mine. Comes in handy and gives you a life when you are doing a long smoke at 12 plus hours. I have found that when I have mine setup, the temp is within 1 to 2 degrees of what it was orginaly set up for.

    Have fun!!!

it depends on the temp you are shooting for. Personally I get my temp to 50 below desired with the bottom wide open and no daisey and then install the Guru vent and set Miss Daisey "about" where she should be and then let the Guru take over. You'll be fine - just learn to trust the guru!

For me it depends on what temp you are cooking at...

I have a 10 cfm fan and I place my pit probe at food level.

275° or below, fan 1/3 to 1/3 open, top slider closed pettles 1/3 to 1/2 open

275° to 400°, fan 1/2 to 2/3 open pettles full open and at times slider 1/8 to 1/4 inch open at widest point.

Actually, I dont think it matters much..even with the 4cfm fan that is about 100 times the air flow you would normally see just from normal air flow in a L BGE...with the smarts of the DigiQ it comes down to how much and how long the blower runs to maintain a certain temp..I leave my blower damper full open and after I'm up to temp I nearly close the daisy wheel completely.. the DigiQ responds based on the air flow thru the egg and the effect that air flow has on temp...

You should set the daisy just barely cracked open so the fan is forcing the air out, this will prevent a chimney effect overheating the Egg when the fan isn't running. -RP

AZRP is on track for low and slow but for anything above 300 degrees you need the wheel to be pretty open. When I tried my low and slow (220 degree dome), I left the daisy wheel half open and the dome went to 235 (chimney effect)and settled there.

I wanted 220 so I closed the daisy so that it was 1/8 open and the temp dropped back. If you are aiming for 300 it is much more forgiving.
