BGE Egg & Table Cover

This past week was the first week that my egg has spent outside in the elements. Until now, I've kept it in the garage. (I know...I feel like I'm neglecting it)
I bought the cover that BGE sells for this table/egg. It had its first rain for the past two days, nothing really torrential, just spring rain.
When I took off the cover yesterday, I was surprised at how much water was on the table and egg. I expected a little condensation but there were three different puddles and worst of all, my dual function top was wet. Looking at the inside of the cover, the interior backing around most of the seams is soaked through, as if it just isn't water resistent.
Has anyone else experienced this with a BGE brand cover?
It wasn't cheap (around $80 if memory serves) and I'm taking it back to the dealer on Monday, but if a replacement is going to do the same thing, then I just want to get my money back and just get a tarp.

I have the same BGE cover and my egg never gets wet  I would bring it back.

Get the ventilated cover. It's more $ but drys out quicker. My egg is 10 years old and never had a cover. The cover makes the table last longer I'm sure.

Holy Cow :woohoo: , I posted my reply above, but then took a look at my setup...and I have a tarp over the egg area
Sorry....I guess I don't qualify to make an intelligent reply :S

How can the DFMT get wet if you store it inside the egg?

It wasn't in the egg. It was on top of the table.Knoxville, TN

This is the ventilated cover. I thought at first that was the problem (even though I made sure the vent was upright), but there was water on the table at the other end of the table too.Knoxville, TN

Good! I just wanted to make sure that this isn't how they all are. I'll run it back down to the dealer when they open on Monday.
Thanks!Knoxville, TN

I have had the same problem with the BGE cover. Took it back and the dealer gave me a new one. Next time it rained ...wet under the cover. It seems to be leaking at the seams. The dealer said it was supposed to be an all weather cover and shouldn't leak, said the one he has on his egg does not leak. I said well give me yours and I'll give you mine...he had no comment.

Mine leaks at the seems too , it's the cover for the large table. I got some tent silicone water repellent and sprayed the heck out of the seems and it helped a lot.

I have the oldstyle and it too leaked badly until I picked up a tube of K+Kote Seam Sealer made by Kenyon. It is made expressly for sealing sewn seams in nylon and synthetic fabrics. There was a needle nose tip and I merely applied it on the inside for appearance sake. I bought it at a sporting goodies store that sold camping tents.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

First of all Cpt, you were one of the ones who inspired my wife and I to do my table last week. We both LOVED the craftsmanship in your table. Here's ours:
Second of all, it's too funny that you mentioned that. My wife and I mentioned trying something like that last night (but she mentioned using that spray mink oil for waterproofing suede shoes).Knoxville, TN

Hey thanks, it does look good from a distance. Believe me there are plenty of goo-ups when you get close. It was a fun but never ending project.
Yours came out well, nice job on the tile work. I wanted to do a tile top on mine but was afraid of these NE winters.
