in the back seat of a full size car. I am out of town with our car and have purchased a used large egg. It would save me over 4 hours of driving if I can use the car to pick-up the egg. I used the measurements of 24 inches in dia. and 32 inches tall. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for your help

Bob

It should, I brought mine home strapped in the back seat of a Tahoe with no trouble or crowding.

I probably would not do that, but if you do, you may want to take the bands and the top off. Then secure it as best you can in the seat so it does not move. Just my opionion. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. With diesel fuel at $4 per gallon, "I Feel Your Pain"

Depends on the car, but yes, lot's of people transport Large Eggs that way. Just take precautions to protect your seats and surrounding area from damage. If you are purchasing it at an Eggfest you might want to cover it completely with a large plastic bag. The smell can be quite strong in a closed up vehicle.

Also, it's going to be heavy so you will need to bring tools to break it down should you have difficulty fitting it through the door assembled. And to disassemble the nest if you run out of space. Another idea would be to bring some padding and a large cardboard box to put the grate, grid, fire pit and ring in.

And be sure to get some help. Trust me when I say you want to avoid any chance of injury to your back.

    Hope this helps.

    It should work fine!
I covered mine with trash bag to keep the seats clean (and preven the smokey small from bothering my wife. I also had to move the passenger seat forward, but it worked fine!

I'd throw it in the front seat. That way you can control it when making turns.....It's a little tricky to get the handle, band nuts and spring mechanism positioned so they don't rest up against the seat. Bring some cardboard too. Pic is a medium egg.

I used to drive a Lincoln Town Car loaded with larges (3 of em) down to Mobile AL from the old Mothership back in the day. They didn't have a good dealer down there then.
Spring Chicken is right, depends on the car.

And, boy howdy are they heavy... :pinch:

Get help unloading it. I unloaded mine from the back deck of my friend's rav4, but it was one of those things where I couldn't get the guts out and once you get it airborne, you're committed! And use gloves.. that ash door is sharp enough.
