No prime rib, but some lamb. (hoping images work)

    LambCrustedCarved.jpg

I used a recipe adapted from Lobel's meats web site.

The main difference was that I roasted in a rack, rather than a pan. I also used a boneless leg of lamb. Before I tied the butterflied leg together, I sprinkled extra lemon zest, garlic powder and black pepper across the meat.

The crushed pistachio was somewhat sticky, but most that I pushed onto the bottom of the leg fell off. There was plenty for the top, so I had several ounces left. Uncooked, it was still a very nice snack.

I set the Egg up with an inverted plate setter, and a drip pan. That much obstruction made the temperature come up very slowly to 400, even with the lump lit in 6 spots. I thought that it would be difficult to draw the temperature down, as per the recipe, after putting on the lamb. However, the added meat mass trented by foil drove the temperature down to about 230. Thru most of the cook, my main concern was keeping the Egg hot enough. Toward the end, the temp ran a little higher, and the meat internal jumped from about 135 to 160 in 15 minutes. So it was a trifle over done, but quite good none the less.

Your Lamb Maple Chipotle post last week was the one that made me try lamb again.
I did one traditional and the second with Maple Chipotle. It was a nice twist. Very little of the two left from a crowd that said they were only going to eat the Ham.

  • wish i could see those photos, but they don't show up in WIDE view. i really don't understand why people keep posting photos that are 1024 pixels wide since the forum only displays them at 620 pixels wide anyway in less than half of the view options. it's a needless waste of bandwidth.

    click this

i really wish the forum moderator would at least post a note about this or fix it. i've brought this up several times, but i get ignored. whatever.

    Hey Rick
This forum helped me majorbig. Use at the beginning. Remove "size=1024" "size=150" whatever. And just start off with img in brackets. Like this.meat.jpg

Hope it works, or I'll look like a dillwad.
    Happy cookin

  • thanks, but that is not the problem. any image posted from photobucket that is 1024 pixels wide will not show up in any of the three WIDE views and will not show up in one of the non-wide views. so that's 4 of the six possible views that the image will not appear in and in the other two non-wide views the forum only displays the image at 620 pixels anyway.

your image is only 700 pixels wide so it displays fine in wide veiw, but will be be displayed at only 620 in non-wide views.

anyway, please refer to the link i posted that dynagreaseball put together. having to go through this over and over and over is driving me crazier.

i've begged, i've crawled, i've pleaded, but the forum gods are too busy with other things i reckon.

    Thank's for the sizing info.
My cooking and photo skills are ok but my
internet related computer skills are not
up to par. The info sheet was great and I printed it for future use. Hell, I'm not even sure if I'm on the new forum...
