Just wondering if anyone else has a problem accessing their member's profile when they use AOL's browser? It seems that I do. WMK recommended that I use Firefox my browser, they support it, it has not been a problem.

Thanks

John

I also use AOL. I've about given up with trying to access my profile, as sometimes it's there, but most times it's not. I doubt I'll ever totally figure this new board out. Seems as though things are different if you use IE to come here. I dunno.....

  • I am currently using Firefox as my browser and it lets me view my profile and post using my handle Chef in the Making. It looks like I will use Firefox for my browser to access the forum and AOL for day to day.

I have to wonder why people are still paying AOL to use their browser.

AOL uses a bastardized form of I.E. There is a whole set of instructions that webmasters have to comply with to get a website usable by an AOL member. The most important of which is every page MUST expire immediately.

AOL caches every page visited by a member internally to their servers. If that page was seen by any member in the last 24 hours then it is served back to the next person who visits that page. They say this is to give you a faster internet experience.

I post a message. You read it. I modify my message. Another AOL member reads the message. They see the old unmodified message. The 24 hour counter is reset. You can see where this can be a major hassle for a busy site like this one. Dynamically produced sites like this one have the most issues.

If you are using Road Runner you DO NOT need to use AOL's browser to access the internet. Regardless of what Time Warner or Road Runner tells you. All road runner is what Time Warner Cable calls their cable connection to internet. Start up I.E or Firefox from your desktop and you'll be on.
