LIKE FATHER LIKE DAUGHTER!!
i am blown away by my daughter...she is only 4 years old and has watched me cook on the BGE since she was 1....last friday she told me that she knew what she wanted for Christmas...so i asked her what she wanted and she told me that she wanted to ask santa for a BGE that was her size....i thought she was just talking as kids do and so i asked her if she wanted to have father/daughter time on saturday while my wife and son spent time together(he is only 2 weeks old)..she said yes and wanted me to take her to the BGE store in atlanta...so off we went....she went right in the store and found the mini BGE and said that was just her size....[p]on sunday afternoon as we were leaving church i told my wife i was going to see if i could change her mind and so here is what i did...i told her that if she wanted a BGE then she could not have anymore happy meals from mcdonalds...i knew i had her now...so she thought for a moment and said "ok, i do not want anymore happy meals because if i have the BGE then i can cook my own hamburger".....well she got me[p]so here is what i am after...does anyone have a mini BGE they would like to get rid of that i might can purchase for my 4 year old girl...i guess i have a real young egg head[p]

dawgfan,
Pretty cool story. Sounds like you have a smart little girl!

dawgfan, Fire can be dangerous so when you do get her one, treat it just like any other dangerous activity you might get a child involved with (swimming, skiing, hunting). Make sure she knows that the only time she can use it is when you are with her. Teach her the proper approach to cooking. I began cooking with my mom about the age of five and she was quite adamant that I was not to cook without her present (gosh I hope she lifts that restriction soon). I did find out a few things the hard way (like when a burner is red it is hot) but basically I learned all the cooking basics from her. Teach your daughetr the basics and then teach her to experiment (with you) and she'll develop into a great cook. Cooking her own hamburger or hot dog on her own grill under your watchful eye will make her super proud. Then by the time she hits 14, you can let her take over the grilling chores. ;-)

dawgfan,
Looks like you have a great little one there, if she is going to starting egg-n that young, best teach her high protein and low carbohydrate diet. With the egg she might need it. ÜÜÜ
Sounds like you're a lucky guy,

My six year old has already learned that pulled pork beats a Happy Meal anyday. She loves to work those forks. I can't wait until the day she says "Dad, I'm going to cook today. You just enjoy the game."

Q.N.E. tyme, nah, she is not to young. I personally know her and she is a responsible girl with responsible parents who will teach her the do's and don'ts. some children , yes it would be to young, but that is mainly because of irresponsible parents. dawgfan is responsible. I taught my son to shoot a .22 rifle when 5 y/o, no problem. He was also taught that he was never to touch the rifle unless I was with him. Today he is 20 y/o and he appreciates the safety he was taught when younger. anyway, teach um young and they will be better prepared for later. just my .02.
