Headhunter,[p]a plate-setter is basically a ceramic kiln shelf. we use them to provide a ceramic barrier between the fire and the food during an indirect cook. It can be used in it's upright state to bring the cooking surface to just above the base of the egg. This is good for stuff like pizza, where you want to get the food on and off quickly without the sides of the egg interfering. It can also be used inverted with a grill sitting on the legs and a drip pan below. For a visual, go to the top of the forum and click on the "Whats New" banner. Down at the bottom of the page are a few pics of a plate-setter in it's various configurations.[p]HTH,
    Kevin

  • Headhunter,
Does anybody know how much this place setter is with shipping? (ballpark please)

  • Seth Howard, when I bought mine it was around 30 bucks as I recall and there was no postage since I ordered it from my dealer. Those things by their very design are fragile to ship and BGE prefers to include them in a packaged shipment to their dealers. BTW get a BGE pizza stone while you're at it for best results.
