Hey All,
I'm always interested in trying new 'flavors' of sauce and rubs. I thought it would be interesting for folks to list their favorites so that we can all have a look at some new possibilities.

Not a big sauce guy, but I do like Sweet Baby Ray's. I want to try Blues Hog, but haven't had the chance to order.
On the other board, a spice called Carl's Gourmet Prime Rib rub was recomended by another poster. My local grocery store had some and I have to say it's been the best prime rib roast rub I've tried. Has a lot of rosemary flavor in it. Come to find out they have other flavors too...lemon, lemon and garlic, southwest steak.
I also really enjoy all of the Dizzy Pig spices. they have that freshness quality to them that can't be beat. I'm still in search for the ultimate brisket rub. -
I also like the Dizzy Pig products.I haven't tried them all yet,but am working on it.
My favorite bbq sauce is Williamson Bros.Good stuff!!! -
If you like a sweet sauce try this with an Asian flair.Been doing it for twenty years.
2 cups ketchup
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup soy
1 Tb oyster sauce
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp sesame oil
1 Tb honey
Mix it up and enjoy.You can double,triple or whatever with this and it works out well.I generally
make up one or two quarts at a time.Save some and give some away. -
I haven't tried a lot of rubs. I usually made my own before trying DP. Now, most often, I use DP rubs. But I will also recommend another. Spice House, from Milwaukee/Chicago, have one called Bronzeville Rib Rub thats quite good.
Walkerwood Jamaican Jerk marinade is very sharp. Has a little more allspice flavor than I like, but the Scotch Bonnet and lime are really nice.
The best sauce I've found for pulled pork is Blues Hog Tennessee Red. I really enjoy the Slab's Kyle-style on both pork and beef ribs. It has a strong black pepper taste.
Among the the widely available commercial brands, I like Stubb's original for a more vinegarey flavor. Sweet Baby Ray's is a standard stand-by for sweet. Open Pit used to make a variety called "Char-Broil" that I really liked, but haven't seen it for some time.
There are many dozen's out there to try. I find the rubs and sauces made by competition teams usually beat the commercial brands. I try to buy a half dozen or so new ones when I can. -
I have also used Blues Hog. They have an interesting flavor. In fact I'm getting ready to reorder some now.

I use all Dinosaur Bar-B-Que products. They have about 4-5 sauces, my favotire having habanero. Also a mojito marinade. I make my own rub based on a recipe in their cookbook. I pick them up in their restaurant in NYC, but you can get them in supermarkets in the Northeast, or from their website. Have fun.

Ditto Dinosaur is my fav. My neighbors son liked open pit I could never figure out why.

I like Big Bob's Gibson's sauces -- especially the habanero red sauce (it has just enough kick to be interesting). Their sauces have won all kinds of awards and they pretty inexpensive to buy on their website. www.bigbobgibson.com Their butt rub along with any of the Dizzy Pig spices are my favorite commercial rubs.

My favorite commercially available rub is Billy Bones Competition rub for pork and his BeefMaster for...you guessed it, Beef.
I haven't found my favorite sauce just yet. Still searching for that perfect one:)Knoxville, TN

Tabasco makes a very thick (chunky) sauce - it is an outstanding marinade also - as a side note their mayonnaise is really, really good
