posting problem

I'm still having problems trying to post as a member rather than a guest,also not allowed to see profiles. Last time I brought this up you said it had to do with the 1 hr. time deal and when I replied with thanks that worked as it should,then minutes later I tried to post a reply in the Egghead forum and was back to guest. Aftewr reading Beli's post I'm pretty sure that I never received the second e mail either.

I just looked. There is a profile for you so it seems you are regestered on this forum. It says "offline" so it beleives you are not logged in. Did you log in today? You have to login every day and if you let it sit idle for an hour it will automatically log you out. Then you must login again.

Yes I always log in when I check the forum and usually run over the 1 hr. limit.I don't post very often usually just questions when I have a problem or hare brained idea but am contemplating getting into the digital photo thing and if that works out would like to post pics.Seems like it would be better as member,maybe not.Still really appreciate the forum.

According to our records, you last logged in this morning.

There was an old profile for you, that used your handle as your username (your actual one does not). I disabled this profile -- not sure if it was causing any trouble, but better safe than....

If, before you post, you see your handle and email address in the post form, then the forum things you are logged in. If you don't see this, then you may need to log in again. We will look into making it a bit easier to keep track and to restore your login after timeout.

I just logged on about 5 min ago and tried to look at profile and got you are not authorized.Scrolling to the bottom of the page it is the guest deal again and the encrypted password,if that is the correct term for it.I will try to use my user name with this post and see.Ok I got ther posting problem message so will try again with the guest deal.

Hmm, it sounds like you may be running with cookies disabled in your browser.
Like most sites, we use a "cookie" to track login information. If you set your security settings high enough, your browser will not accept a cookie.

At the moment, I cannot think of any other reason why you would be treated as a "guest" immediately after a successful logon.

I don't know anything about cookies so will ask my wife when she gets home and hopefully we can figure it out.

I had my wife read this thread and she checked the settings and said that there is nothing that would interfere with cookies.It really is not that big a deal as long as I have access to the forum thats all I care about so don't worry about it.
