Used Ash suggestions...

I have read several different uses for used ash. I was wondering if I could get some posted here. I know they are somewhat good for soil. How about spread upon a lawn? In the garden? Compost?
Thanks!

Wardster,
Do a search with google using these words:
wood ash compost.[p]You will get lots of info. Ash is a great addition to compost, but it tends to neutralize acid soils, so go easy for your acid loving plants. [p]HTH!
Go Terps!

Wardster,
Good advice below. Out here in (suburban) CO, our biggest problem is clay.I add all the lump ash I can find to my compost, and the worms and plant type guys love it.
