bob g,
I had the same problem when I first got my egg and the wife was really pissed. Home Depot has some fire-proof mats to put your egg on. It was $30 and worth every penny.[p]Mark G

bob g,
See my website for my cart photos. I've got mine sitting on a 18x24 inch piece of slate:

bob g,
I've got a tin can with lid (I think it held popcorn this past Xmas) that is stationed in front of the door. Any "flying embers" fall in on top of the spent ash scraped out at the end of each cook. (And the lid goes back on till next cook, or a trip to the compost.)
