Great BBQ Sauce Recipe !

The Man - I mean the guy who finally convinced me that I needed an egg, visited us in Denver last night. While we grilled some steaks, he said that a great barbecue sauce recipe had been posted in the local New Orleans paper. I have not tried it yet, but trust his taste. Here it is:[p]Root Beer Barbecue Sauce[p]Makes about 3 cups:[p]1 (2-liter) bottle Barqs root beer[p]1 ½ cups apple cider vinegar[p]½ cup ketchup[p]¼ cup yellow mustard[p]2 tablespoons lemon juice[p]1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce[p]1 tablespoon Tabasco[p]1 teaspoon kosher salt[p]1 teaspoon black pepper[p]2 tablespoons unsalted butter[p]In a large saucepan, reduce root beer to 1 cup over medium heat (takes about 1 hour).[p]Add vinegar, ketchup, mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire, Tabasco, salt and pepper. Stir well to combine. Simmer 20 minutes.[p]Finish with butter to give the sauce extra body and flavor.[p]Note: this sauce is improved by time in the refrigerator or freeze.
