fish grill question

hi,
we're slow smoking some large salmon filets RIGHT NOW and i can't figure a way to lift the grill to add some more wood chips. i'll buy a gripper this weekend. how can i lift it now so i can toss in some more chips.

mike, it may be too late by now but I hav elifted mine by placing a spatula through the grate and then lifting and have a hot pad (or hot mitt) ready to grab the other side. And you're right. I finally broke down and bought the gripper.
