After I read post on the forum and click the back button and the main screen returns it returns to the top the forum. Why is that?

    J.C. in GA,

For me, it does return to where I was, but I rarely use the back button except for very short threads. Since the new forum provides the entire thread index in every message, I tend to stay in the thread until I've finished with it. This results and a log more back buttons to return to the index than on the old forum; so, I usually just click "Egghead Forum" to return to the main index and it does indeed return me to the top.

Soon, we will look into adding a "return to index" link w/in each message to make it easier to get back to where you were.

In the meantime, you can use what some others have found works well for them. Some have found that opening a new tab for a message, then reading the message in the tab, and closing the tab when they're done, keeps their main index page right where it was when they opened the tab. You can do this in IE7, FireFox, or Safari. With IE7 and FireFox, use a "Control-Click" on the message link to open it in a new tab. With Safari (at least on a Mac) use "Command-Click" to open a new tab.
