Fried my ET73 probe last night. I'm not getting a new probe because of the many shortcomings of that product. Polder has a neat-looking dual probe that can measure two meats or a meat and pit temp. I don't need one that measures pit temp. and I don't really need the remote feature. I just want something reliable. Anyone know of one (reasonable) they have good luck with? I Googled for one and got a zillion hits :S

You are always frying something. I have had the Maverick Roast Alert/3 for about 3-4 years and have been very happy with it. Here is a site, but there may be better prices.

A zillion, a zillion hits. Sounds like 18 holes of golf. :woohoo: Hey made that Honey Wheat Bread yesterday. Pretty dang good stuff. The 7 1/2 cups flour gave my Pro KA a workout though.
Pics were not near as pretty as yours, so I didn't embarass myself, by posting pics.

    Egret,

I've had pretty good luck with my Polder so far (the $24 one...) but my number one is still my IKEA-special. Think I paid about $9 for that one on sale a when they first opened here in Round Rock.

Almost bought an ET-73, and still have the DigiQ II on the radar. Just curious: What was it about the Maverick thermo that you didn't like?

Thanks, and please let us know what you end up choosing...

Appreciate that, Richard! That's about what a new probe would cost for the ET73......delivered.

I went back and re-counted and it was 2.7763 zillion!
Yeah, I know what you mean regarding those heavy doughs causing the KAs to struggle. I've been doing a lot of sourdough lately and mine is really showing it's lack of horsepower (350 watts).
Hey. buddy, I can't help but notice how your karma is struggling here lately :woohoo:

Thanks for the reply! There are a lot of things I don't like about the ET-73. It's bad enough the on-off switches are small and poorly placed, but, the reliability of the communication between the transmitter and receiver is spotty to dismal. The range is way less than they advertise, and, if I walk between the two, many times the signal will get interrupted to the point of no further communication altogether. I'll be looking elsewhere for a reliable remote-type thermometer ;)

Are you close to all that construction in Round Rock?
My daughter and in-laws are in Georgetown. Last time I was there for a visit I didn't recognize the place.

Were you referring to the tollway construction? Or the outlet malls and hospitals? I'm close to both...
