Sorry for the long subject of unrelated topics, but thought I would first share that Publix has some LeCreuset loaf pans on sale for about $11 bucks - I bought two of them and plan to use them for no-knead bread tomorrow (dough is currently rising). I will put the dough in one and then put the other pan on top (upside down) as a "lid" during the "enclosed baking" phase. Here's what the pans look like (cell phone included for scale):

Looking forward to trying it out. Will post pics of results tomorrow.
Meanwhile, took a stroll and shot some snow pics - it's been snowing here in Atlanta since around 10 a.m. - love it! By the way, hard to compose a good shot when it's snowing hard and you can't really feel your hands anymore. Anyway, thought I would share a few:

Nice pics there, JF. Have fun making the bread!
-
Isn't it cool!! We got it this morning in Alabama as well. I'll bet the northerners are thinking "that's not snow". But we don't see very much around here.
Thanks for sharing the pics! -
Enjoy that snow Jason. Pans look great. I'll be cooking bread tomorrow as well.
We're supposed to get 3 more major storms this winter, at least that is what I heard today.
Mike -
You just had to one-up me, didn't you, Mike? LOL. Now THAT is some snow! :woohoo:
-
Yeah - apparently even MS and LA got some snow - unbelievable.
Those yankees are probably snickering at us but hey, we'll take what we can get, right? LOL.
Cheers,
TRex -
Thanks man - I'm becoming a bread-a-holic.
-
Be sure to let us know how the pan works out. I have looked at them and wondered.
-
no snow up here in sw ohio, but jack frost has been here quit a bit lately!
-
Wait till thirdeye chimes in. LOL. I know you guys in the south don't get snow very often, does it cripple the city? After 12-15 inches, we are up and running the next day. Just curious, always wanting to learn.
Mike -
If we had that much, we'd be crippled for weeks!
All our cities have for snow preparation is dump truck loads of sand for bridges and hills. I'm sure there isn't a snow plow within hundreds of miles! We just sit it out. It usually melts the same, if not the next day.
But we enjoy it whenever we get it, especially when you have an egg!! LOL -
Hey thanks. I honestly didn't know. Keep us posted on the ribs. If you ever need help with ribs, I have cooked them many different ways. I can usually get the results you want.
Following my good friend Max's idea. I open up a hotline on holidays for ribs.
Mike -
Like Keith said, 15" and we'd come to a grinding hault for a week. This little dusting won't affect us too much, unless water left on the roads freezes overnight - the early morning church commute may be dicey.
Brrr,
TRex -
karma +1 for that, mon!
now you are back to zero, despite grapeboy's efforts! :silly: -
Will do!
TRex -
Pretty Jack, Rick.

Do you mean Jonathon? The "I can only cook 6 abt's at one time Jonathon"? I sent you an e-mail. I know who it is. And thats fine.
Thanks for the effort.
Mike -
make that 'quite a bit'...
i'd pay for that "edit" button option at this point. :pinch: -
I appreciate it Mike! I've never been too good at cooking ribs, but have started cooking a few in the last year since I got my egg. I'll have to say, they're much better than they were on the old webber, but still can't say that I've really nailed the flavor I'm looking for yet. I'm getting better at getting the right texture though. I'm trying some blues hog rub on these that I got with a sauce order, along with a shot of jamaican jerk. I just ordered the 10 pack of DP rubs last night. I might try some more next weekend with some of their rubs. Thousands of people here can't be wrong huh? LOL I appreciate the help!
-
Shoot me an e-mail if we need to talk.
Mike -
There is an edit button, Rick. Just page down to the end of your post.
-
Hold on Trex, he was willing to pay for that!!! LOL
-
not fer me, mon!
i'm only half logged on... so that's half a log.
