What sort of basters and/or brushes does everyone use for their Q? I've got an old brush that is begging to be replaced and I'm trying to decide whether to get the cotton mop or the silicone brush....or should a dedicated Egger have both in his arsenal?

I have tried several ideas over the last 6 years in a non-commercial non-competive environment. The current winner is a silicon brush about 1 1/2 inch wide and 5 rows of bristles deep.. Works well for me on my large with ribs etc and just toss in dish washer and is ready to go the next day.

Thanks, Richard, I'm probably going to try the silicone brush out.

i have the silicond brushes also they sound like the ones Richard Fl describes.

the whole reason i went to those is i had a date years ago and i made some toasted bread but the butter was cold so i nuked it in the microwave and halfway through the meal she started spitting and sputtering and pulled out one of those little bristles that come on the kind of brush i was using, from thwe next day until today i have had the silicone ;););)

oh well i guess served her right  was the only time we were together that she was not talking

Heh...did you still use the natural-bristle brush when cooking for her?

I ordered the silicone model from Amazon, along with a new grill scrubber and a perforated copper skillet for veggies and shrimpies.

I got a silicone brush as a gift. I didn't think I would like it, but it's turned out to be my favorite. I use it mostly for ribs, but obviously you can use it to baste anything. Get the one where you can adjust the brush to any angle. It not only makes it easier to baste, but you can set it down with the brush up, rather than just laying in down on a plate.
