Meatball receipe? Haven't seen one here yet.

Reflecting on all the great formulae encountered on this board. I don't recall any meatball receipes. Momma used to make a great pork and veal, (and beef?) meatball, pan browned and then roasted in chicken broth. That's all I remember, except that they were the best, ever, anywhere. She would take em out of the oven and baste that broth over them every so often. Oh man! I wish today that I had written down even 1/10th of her receipes. Any one here made meatballs using the smokin, grillin, slow cookin,.... what i mean is on the egg? Please shout out. Nature Boy, I know you got to have a few spiced up versions. Anyone have a version of what I described as my Momma's? I would like to try and make those. That would really be great. Thanks. Remembering the good old days.

    shiek,
This isn't exactly what you are referring to, but I'll give you my favorite meatball recipe, and it even includes PORK.[p]2 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
21/2 ground pork sausage (not ground pork)
Mix 3Tbsp dried onion soup mix (your brand)1 teaspoon nutmeg freshly grated (makes a difference) and 2 cups of half & half
Add a little at a time and hand mix
Make teaspoon size meatballs. (I use melon baller to form)
Use 2 pans and brown on low heat. You will do multiple batches, reserving till all is done.
    Drain grease from pan
Add 1 cup water to deglaze pan
Add 5 cups water and 6 pkgs. of onion-mushroom gravy mix and
add meatballs mixture to slow cooker. Top with onion slices and cook on high or put in casserole dish and bake at 250 degrees for 3 hrs.
This is good as a sandwich filling or over noodles. Nothing but good reviews from people I've served. Freezes well also.[p][p]
