error message when attempting to change profile

whenever i attempt to change any of my profile settings, including password, i get the following error message:

This e-mail is already registered. if you forgot the password click on "Lost your Password" and new password will be sent to you.

any thoughts on this one?

also is spellcheck not available at the new forum?
