What do Y'all do with extra rub
Ca_rnivore
Posts: 120
I had three or four plastic baggies with about 2-3Tbs of various rubs. Not enough for ribs, burgers, etc. I was getting ready to grill up some sausages and hot dogs and an idea came to me. I took each rub and rolled various sausages and hot dogs in the excess rubs. Cooked as usual, the rubs added an extra dimension to ordinary grilled sausages. So what other things do y'all do with those extra bits of rub? [p]--Kevin

Ca-rnivore, I will combine the small amounts of leftover rub and use them on hamburgers. Since it is just burgers, I don't have to worry about repeating what I did. But I have to admit, sometimes these combinations of rubs produced results I wish I could have repeated. LOL[p]Beers,[p]JDB

Ca-rnivore,[p]I have taken my small rub leftovers and stretched them by boiling a cup of water... throwing the rub in and infusing it like you would tea in the water. Let cool to room temp. Ice in a baggie added then to chill the solution nicely.[p]Then I use my handy cajun injector to inject whatever I am cooking.... preferably at least a few hours before the cook so the solution can better absorb into the meat. Depending on the rub/water mixture... you may need to strain it first so it does not clog the needle. [p]I salt and pepper or ? the meat also sometimes.. depends [p]This makes a little tea bag of rub go a long way ![p]Happy Egging.... BB

Ca-rnivore,[p]You can add it to baked beans.

Ca-rnivore,
Thin sliced potatoes...say 1/4 inch thick. Big wide thin slices. Rubbed with olive oil, and prinkled good with extra rub. Grill the taters a few minutes a side over a 350 fire, until well browned. SImple and good.
