Onion inserted in the Butt

Over the weekend I cooked a 4.75 lb butt, that I inserted small wedges of onion into. I think I probably put 4 to 5 small onion wedges in the butt. I then put rub on it and finally covered the entire butt in a mustard.[p]This was definately the best butt I've ever cooked. I went up to take a shower while my wifed pulled it. When I got down she and her father had eaten about half of it. Problem is I can't say the onion had anything to do with the great outcome, as I didn't notice any onion taste.[p]Since it was so darn good I'll use the onion on the next, just in case the onion was what made this one better than any previous cooks.[p]Regards,

Jethro, you had me worried. I thought you had "had a cooking accident". [p]Sounds great,, and like my experiences, you never know whether these new twists actually made it better, or if you just happened to hit everything on the mark. I say stick with it next time to verify. I'm trying it next time too, but my butt will be smeared with buttermilk/mustard/balsamic/cajun goop. And THEN, wrapped in plastic wrap for 2 days. Ummmmm,, it sounds good already. Thanks for the tip.
