OK, I'm sold on the Egg...I plan to ditch the Weber and "go egg". My question is this; I plan to put the Egg in a table (not yet built, nor do I have my egg yet) on our deck where it will stay. What accessories will I need, what type of wood should I make the table out of, and is it relatively easy to direct cook on the egg. I'm also a bit unsure if I can slow smoke, say a turkey, at 180-200 degrees for 10-12 hours.....if so, I can get rid of my water smoker too! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Wannahavanegg,
And you'll be able to send your water-based smoker there too. I gave my Weber to a friend who kept saying he was gonna buy a grill but never got around to do it. His wife is most appreciative.
Not sure of how long you'd slow smoke a turkey at those temps but I can tell you at 300*, you'll get plenty of smoke flavor in about 3 hours time.
My large egg is in a table and sits on my patio under a patio awning. Have a BGE cover but I've never taken it out of the box.
You'll get plenty of thoughts on what to get...ash tool, grill griper, etc. I strongly suggest a plate setter and a pizza stone.
Also, you'll need a large freezer to hold meat for when you wake up one morning and decide you want something on the egg.
Feel free to ask away...plenty of great advice here.

Shelby,
Also, you'll need a large freezer to hold meat for when you wake up one morning and decide you want something on the egg.[p]Man, if that is not the absolute truth! Oh, look, Boston Butts on sale - think I'll grab a couple. Wow, pork center loin roasts on sale - this 16 lb'r looks real nice! That particular roast led to the purchase of a Food Saver Vacum Packaging System. Oh, looky here - salmon is half price!
First time in my life I ever put the sports section of the paper on hold - have to look at the grocery store sales ads first. Or told the wife, "Hey, I'll go to the store to get that for you. No problem, dear. Glad to do it."[p]Confirmed case of BGE addiction. Someone stop me before I cook again....what was that? Oh, the paper is here - gotta go.

LasVegasMac, LOL you just described my "awakening" too and reaching for the food ads! I too offer to stop and shop on the way home at night. Now I know where the butchershop is though I am still a wandering soul when it comes to the non-BGE essential items and don't get too excited - I've learned to just tell wifey "that grocery store must have been hit by a swarm of locust today because the XXXX, KKKK and ZZZZ was all sold out...but look at the deal I got on baby-backs!" 8^)

Wannahavanegg,
Go for it! Lose the water smoker, suggest keeping the Weber just in case you have favorites - keep it until you learn how to do it on the BGE!
Several "must have" accessories, IMHO, Daisy Wheel top, ash tool and remote temp unit.
Agree with Shelby on the Turkey - have done a couple 15 - 20 lb range - about 6 hours for the biggest @ 300 or so temp. Best bird I ever had - wife and guests said same![p]May the BGE be with you![p]LVM[p]

RRP,
It's great isn't it? Sure get some strange looks from the better half though.
Ever see the TV commercial where the guy goes nuts at the Best Buy Electronics store - the wife trying to establish the rules before they go in ?
That would be me at Sams Club - straight to the meat counters! Spare ribs - three to a pack - vacum packed already! Don't see it in the counter? Ring da bell and ask Mr. Butcher to do it to it![p]I love my Egg and I love this forum and the great people on it!
Happy Egg'n![p]LVM
