Mini "top" ideas

I just bought a mini today, and unlike the slide/daisy that I have for my large, I'm going to have to get creative on making something for the top of the mini for temp control. I've seen a few 'homemade' tops on the mini pics, but I never inquired until now how good they worked.[p]Can some of you mini-owners share what you've done control the temp on the mini. I plan on doing mostly hot cooks, but there will be times that I'll want to do chicken pieces, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. So I'll need to regulate the temp at 300 - 350*.

DavidR,
You can regulate he temp with the bottom vent only. I adapted a large daisy to my small egg by putting some gasket material around the bottom edge, and just rest it on there. But I stopped even bothering with that, as I can maintain 250 without the top.[p]Hope that helps. Great weekend onya.

DavidR,[p]I'll second NB's comments. There is no need to use a daisy wheel to control temp on the mini or the small¹. Regulating the bottom vent will accomplish the task.[p][p]¹This excludes a long low and slow on the small. I have no experience with such a cook.[p]Puj

DavidR,
I use a split fire brick. It works great.

DavidR,
Purchase some extra gasket material and wrap the "inside" of your slide daisy with it,keep wrapping until you have a snug fit and can fully open your mini without the slide daisy moving. You can then regulate your temp like you would any of the other larger size eggs.

DavidR,
I use a slide daisy for a small and it works pretty well. A little big but does the job-even with a low and slow.

DavidR,
It took a bit of practice but I can easily control the temp. using just the bottom vent. JCA
