Her name is Molly. I thought I was the only one that named my barbeuces. We call our double catering unit 'The twins' because there are two on the same trailer. Matter of fact that is what I have on the license plate of the trailer. My vans plates are 'BBQTIME' and my turck are 'LETSEAT'
Now back to my new egg. I cooked my 2 game hens for my first cook. It was eaiser than I thought it would be once I learned where to set the dampners at. As we all know, the outside air temp. and humidity and type of wood all make a difference. So therefore every cook is different. And every cooker (egg) is different. My 'twins' are idenical but cook very differnt.
For my hens I rubbed them with olive oil (to help keep the skin moist and not so tough) then rubbed them with Montrel Chicken rub that I got from Costco. I love spices and everytime I see something I might like I buy it. If I don't like it, I give it to one of our kids (they love us).
The hens took about 50 min. to cook direct with me turning them once.
I used the lump charcoal with one good size peice of hickory.

Yes I did cook inside of my new Rubbermaid shed and it did not get hot at all. I checked it constantly and it wasn't even warm on the walls. I will build shelves in it tomorrow and a light so some sort.

I love this thing and can't wait for the next cook out.

    Marv,[p]You'll have to snap us a picture of that shed setup. Sounds interesting. I could probably cook in it without a fire in the summer time. <grin>[p]--sdb in Arizona

    Sounds great, and with your old Q experience with the "twins", it doesn't seem like you'll have very much of a learning curve![p]Once your cooker gets cranking over 400 for any length of time, that guy (or gal) is gonna get mighty hot. Keep an eye on that plastic shed![p]We have twins too..6 year old girls! They don't cook the same either. [p]Enjoy the Q!

    I'm not sure what the shed looks like, but, if the egg is perculatin' in a (sort of) inclosed area, you might have a build up of carbon monoxide inside the shed.[p]Jeff

    Did I hear someone humming "Good Golly Miss Molly..." in the background? Good going. You are now on your way to some happy times. You'll soon be trying to figure out how to add Molly to the back of your "Twins" setup.

    Jeff,
    The shed is only 31 inches deep. therefore the doors are always open during cooking. Even if not, you should never cook in with your egg in an enclosed area.

    My new egg did get up to 550 for short time when I first started it and wasn't standing there watching it. The shed did just fine. It is about 6 inches from left side, 4 ft. from right side and 4 inches from back.
    Every new cooker is a learning experience. And new friends like everyone here on the fourm will teach me a lot too. As I hope to be able to teach you all something as well. We are all here to share and learn.[p]www.marvsbbq.com
