Turkey w/ or w/o Plate Setter

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I have a medium BGE and am cooking a 13lb turkey. Apparently I'm not the only unprepared person that just realized my bird will not fit on my v-rack w/ plate setter. Actually the lid won't close period with the v-rack on the grid over a plate setter. I've noticed quite a few suggestions, what is my best option?:[p]A) Plate Setter w/drip pan on plate setter supported by aluminum foil balls or other items (in order to prevent drippings from scorching and giving the bird a funky taste), turkey on cooking grid [p]B) No Plate Setter, turkey on v-rack w/ drip pan on cooking grid[p]A is what I originally had in mind until I saw the warnings about the drippings scorching and smoking. I had never thought of that.[p]Thanks in advance.[p]
