ThankYou Chuck for your smoked trout recipe... absolutely fantastic... Costco supplied very large trout fillets (they looked like salmon really) and i followed your instructions to a T... YUMmy...[p]have tried mackeral since then and fed that to the dog... it smoked well but the fish is quite oily and strong tasting...[p]i think that technique would smoke other things deeply too... what do you think?[p]oh yes, what other fishes do you like to smoke?[p]Puppy

PuppyBreath,[p]Glad you enjoyed it, my family and I always do. I have done whiting, salmon and catfish using the same recipe with good success. The salmon needs to smoke a little longer but the others are done about the same as the trout. I have never tries mackerel but will be trying blue fish (another oily fish) this summer. [p]The smoking method does work well on other things, almonds are great, just an adjustment in the times and weather whatever you are smoking gets brined, rubbed or marinated are the differences. [p]Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it.[p]Chuck <><
